https://journal.sttintibandung.ac.id/index.php/JT/article/view/74

Immanuel Kant's deontological ethics emphasizes the significance of the moral foundation underlying actions, rather than morality itself, as a more fundamental and essential element. This approach focuses on the duty to act according to principles (maxims), where the assessment of right or wrong is based on intentions rather than consequences. Kant's categorical imperative underscores that moral actions performed with good intentions inherently bring intrinsic moral value. This study employs a literature review method to examine deontological ethics theory and its connection with Matthew 9:13, which highlights compassion as God's primary desire over sacrifices. Compassion is identified as the motivation that should underpin the fulfillment of moral duties in Christianity, independent of outcomes or consequences. This study aims to provide a rational and objective foundation for moral awareness and ethical principles in Christian life. Specifically, it emphasizes the application of compassion in humanity and religious moderation, stressing the importance of sincere intentions and motivations in fulfilling moral obligations without being influenced by pragmatic objectives
Bachtiar Ari Wicaksonoverry willyamKen Jack Gunawan Waoma

https://journal.sttintibandung.ac.id/index.php/JT/article/view/76

This article explores the anthropological thought of St. Gregory of Nyssa regarding humanity as the pinnacle of God's creation. The study employs a qualitative approach with a literature review method, focusing on an analysis of quotations from the works of St. Gregory as well as references to patristic sources such as the writings of St. Maximus the Confessor. The aim is to uncover the early Church's theological understanding of human nature, dignity, and its role in the economy of salvation. The findings indicate that, according to Gregory, humans were created in the image and likeness of God as spiritual, free, and rational beings. The fall did not erase human dignity but positioned humanity as the subject of restoration through the incarnation of Christ. In the salvific work, the incarnation becomes a pivotal moment of restoring human nature toward divine perfection. Ultimately, St. Gregory affirms that universal restoration (apokatastasis) is the fulfillment of God's plan, in which all creation is restored to eternal communion with Him. This study offers significant contributions to the development of Christian anthropology in the context of contemporary education and spirituality
Ika Santi PanandaHendi Wijaya

2025-05-302025-05-30416884Reformulasi Kristologi Monoteistik Berdasarkan Kolose 1:15-20 dalam Menanggapi Tantangan Teologi Sekularisme
https://journal.sttintibandung.ac.id/index.php/JT/article/view/80

This article aims to examine the historical records of the Church Fathers that gave rise to Christological issues. In response to heretical interpretations, the study seeks to explore Paul’s declaration concerning Christ as “the firstborn over all creation” in Colossians 1:15–20, and to formulate a monotheistic Christological concept in accordance with the theological message of the text. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach through literature review and textual analysis. It also employed an interpretative method of analyzing New Testament literature, particularly Paul's epistles, in order to capture the original meaning within its historical and theological context. Paul's emphasis on the supremacy of Christ in Colossians 1:15–20 reveals that Christ is not merely part of creation, but is a Divine Person actively involved in creation itself. The phrase “firstborn” is not meant chronologically or literally, but rather as a declaration of Christ’s authority and ontological superiority over all creation. This understanding is consistent with the Christian monotheistic doctrine, which affirms the divinity of Christ as the Son of God and Creator of all things (cf. John 1:3). Thus, this article concludes that the Christology presented in Colossians 1:15–20 is a firm affirmation of the divinity of Christ, standing strong within the framework of Christian monotheism.
Yefta Yan MangoliGabriel Nuhk Rembang
